New Narratives

Is it all black and white – positive or negative – or is there something positive on the negative side?

How can we develop methods and strategies for integrating Invasive Alien Plant Species (IAPS) into sustainable local material culture, drawing from historical and contemporary practices?

How can the coexistence and utilization of IAPS transform the perception of these plants from harmful invaders to valuable resources and a “new local flora”, fostering ecological and cultural sustainability?

How can the design practice serve as mediator and developer of positive future scenarios promoting local livelihood, culture and communities?

A series of "flags" serve as storytellers, materializing narratives from the matrix and symbolizing identity, belonging, history, values, and hope. These flags portray individual plants and are woven as double-sided fabrics: one side illustrates the plant, while the other side reveals an alternative narrative that highlights the plant's positive attributes.
