Colours of the forbidden garden - Presenting diversity

Colours of the Forbidden Garden has been an exploration of local natural pigments, focusing on the colour palette represented by the “forbidden” and unwanted plants in Norway.

The study presents a series of material experiments that reveal this rich spectrum of colour, while reflecting on the processes involved in creating colour from natural pigments.

At the same time, the work investigates how such plants might be reconsidered as a potential colour resource for the future — and how an experimental design practice can foster a more relational and care-based approach, where humans are not positioned outside of nature, but take part in a shared ecological cycle.
